“We will preserve and cherish the memory of Kamila Skolimowska” – Piotr Nurowski, the President of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOL) promised at the ceremony where the late athlete’s gold medal, earned in the hammer throw at the Sydney Olympics, was handed over to the museum. After Kamila’s sudden death in February, PKOL bought the medal for PLN 200,000. “The medal symbolises the most beautiful aspect of sport and competition that lasts forever. Thanks to Kamila’s parents decision, the priceless trophy stays in the Polish Olympic family” – Nurowski added. The sum of PLN 200,000 put in by PKOL initiates the Fund of Kamila Skolimowska.
